Lunch Lift

We are absolutely creatures of habit. My family eats the same 10 things for breakfast and lunch. I love branching out for dinner and I'm always trying to find something new, but for breakfast and lunch we stick to the staples.

Having said that, you need to know that I do my best thinking in 3 places: on a run, doing dishes, and in the shower. In the shower I decided to switch up our pancakes, doing the dishes from those pancakes I decided to switch up our macaroni and cheese with hot dogs.

I started by first taking an old bottle of marinade and washing it about a million times to get the lemon-pepper stink out of it. Then I filled it with our favorite blueberry pancake mix.

Now I had the only tool I needed to start my pancake art.

Voila! Paired with some fruit and some vanilla organic yogurt, breakfast was a success!

There was a Mickey Mouse too but it was mangled by a toddler before I had a chance to take a picture of it. So now I have the leftovers already neatly stored and all I have to do is put the bottle back in the refrigerator until tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll try shapes next time? Or numbers? Any time I can add a lesson in with food it's pretty much a score for me.

Now onto lunch:

I cut the hot dog into small pieces and just stuck the uncooked spaghetti right through it. Super easy.

While the noodles were boiling, I whipped up a batch of my Aunt Donna's homemade cheese sauce.

And there you go. A fun, unique twist on macaroni and cheese with hot dogs.

I suppose this would work as well for regular spaghetti and meatballs. Well, you probably can't boil meatballs, but perhaps some sort of Italian sausage links? I'll investigate and report back another day...
